PA SHOOTOUTS

Don’t get stuck with a $100k+ lemon: About to invest in a house PA? Well then, you’re probably looking to organise a shootout to compare the options. But what happens if the shootout sells you a dummy and you’re stuck with an expensive lemon? Integrate has assembled a panel of grizzled, seen-it-all industry experts to lay down the do’s and don’ts of evaluating systems – expect plenty of real-world anecdotes of how and where milliondollar PA acquisitions have gone horribly wrong! Topics will include: Getting the reference source material right; correct SPL alignment; the need for live mics; hearing/justifying a $50k difference; the subjectivity of system tuning; and interpreting/relying on EASE models. If you’re responsible for a PA purchase anytime soon, you’d be nuts to miss this session.
Panel includes: Tony Russo, Technical Audio Group; Jeff Mackenzie, Jands; Phill Webb, Bosch Communication Systems; Ben Clarke, Production Audio Services; Jeff Shoesmith, Hills SVL.

REMOTE MIXING AND MASTERING

Who Turns Up, Who Stays Away?: How is mixing and mastering best achieved in 2009? Are these disciplines as integral to the recording process of the artist or 'best left to the experts'? Producer/Engineers George Massenburg, Wayne Connolly, Paul McKercher and Andy Stewart, Mastering gurus Rick O’Neil and Don Bartley, and special guest musician, Josh Pyke, will confront the current issues of when to turn up, who to work with, and how to deliver the final artworks to the world. Between them, these guys have recorded, mixed and mastered literally hundreds of singles and albums. Get in early to avoid missing out on what is likely to be a lively and enthralling debate.

SMAART THINKING

Sound System Optimisation for Projects, Performance & Patrons: Although Smaart will be the tool of choice here, this seminar will more broadly discuss and demonstrate audio system measurement, optimisation and acoustic analysis, with real world explanations of the process for consultants, integrators, engineers and end users.
Understand what you’re measuring – the importance of system design, engineering and commissioning in the optimisation process – with case studies for conferencing, commercial, performance and touring audio systems. There will also be practical demonstrations of setting up your measurement kit and getting reliable measurement data. 'Smaart Thinking' will be presented by Ben Clarke from Production Audio Services who is fresh from designing the arena system for Melbourne’s new Rectangular Stadium, and the Crown Casino technical upgrade.

When: Wednesday 8th July, 1:00 - 2:30pm
Where: The Headroom @ INTEGRATE

THE HEADROOM - We'd Like to Thank...

The Headroom is the epicentre of Integrate’s education program. There simply won’t be any let-up over the three days, when The Headroom plays host to a varied and stimulating program of seminars, clinics, panel discussions and workshops – many of them free of charge!
Integrate owes a debt of gratitude to The Headroom’s four major sponsors:
Staging Rentals & Construction Services
Staging Rentals is responsible for the construction of The Headroom. They’re an award-winning specialist in staging, drapes and construction services, with Australia’s largest range of drapes for hire
Videoplus
The Videoplus Group is delivering The Headroom's audio visual production and support and will be stationed nearby (Stand Q29) – drop by, and tell them about your event needs.
Pollard Productions
Pollards is responsible for rigging in The Headroom. And who better? When it comes to concert rigging, production rigging, effects rigging, in fact hanging anything, Pollards has most probably done it before and have done it safely.
Syntec International
Syntec is providing the audio, including a new revolutionary loudspeaker range. Along with Sennheiser mics and 'phones, The Headroom is in safe hands.
